  • Demeter is the daughter of Cronus and Rhea. She is also the sister of Zeus by whom she became the mother of Persephone.

  • Celeus requested Demeter to nurse his sons Demophon and Triptolemus. To reward his hospitality she intended to make Demophon immortal by placing him each night in the hearth, to burn his mortal nature away. The spell was broken one night because Metanira, the wife of Celeus, walked in on her while she was performing this ritual.

  • Demeter taught the other son, Triptolemus, to principles of agriculture, who in turn taught others this art.Triptolemus had great power and honor in Eleusis.

  • Demeter also presided over the foremost of the Mystery Cults, which promised the path to a blessed afterlife. Her Mysteries were initiation ceremonies held every year for the cult of Demeter and Persephone based at Eleusis.

  • When Demeter was wandering in search for her daughter, Persephone, she was followed by Poseidon, who lusted after her. Poseidon turned himself into a stallion and captured her.

  • The first loaf of bread from the harvest is sacrificed to her. It's sacrificed to her because she makes the crops grow.

  • Demeter was a sister of the goddesses Hestia and Hera. Hera is the wife of Zeus and also the sister of him. Hestia is a sister of Zeus and the oldest daughter of Cronus and Rhea.

  • Her symbol is an ear of wheat and the Horn of Plenty. Those are her symbols because she's the goddess who makes the crops grow every year.

  • Demeter controls the fertility of the earth as goddess of agriculture. She also gives life after death to those who learn her mysteries.

  • Her temple was found at Eleusis where according to Greek Mythology, she stopped to rest in her hunt for her daughter. She didn't know her daughter was getting married to Hades, to be his wife of the Underworld and she was depressed without her, which changes the seasons.

This is Demeter and her daughter, Persephone. Demeter cared a lot about her daughter and would do anything for her.

This is a statue of Demeter with her symbol, which is the Horn of Plenty.

I chose to use the colors orange and green because I thought it resembled the colors of harvesting. Since she's the goddess of agriculture, I thought those colors would be good for it.
For the music I chose I thought it fit Demeter because she's calm and the music was calm and soothing.
